Forest Landscape Painting Tutorial

Hey there! In this tutorial, I’m going to take you through creating a beautiful forest landscape using acrylic paints. My art approach is all about going with the flow, letting the process unfold naturally as I get comfortable with my brushes and paints.

Though instructions are minimal, I have tried to keep the painting palette visible so you can get a better understanding of color mixing and the way I apply it on paper. I have used minimal water because we are not aiming for a watercolor effect; it is all about capturing the essence of acrylic or oil painting on paper.

This tutorial is suitable for both beginners and advanced artists.

Remember, expertise comes with practice and patience. Don’t rush; enjoy the journey.

Materials I used:

  • 300 gsm watercolor paper
  • Acrylic paints in the following colors: titanium white, mid-green, orange-red, yellow ochre, black, burnt sienna, lemon yellow, and mid-yellow.
  • Brushes: “INDIGO” size 6 & 7 flat brushes for the background, trees, and ground, and an “INDIGO” size 3 round brush for finer details.
  • Water to clean the brushes and a rag for wiping in between.

Hope you find the tutorial enjoyable and helpful !

Happy painting !
